Parma Public Housing Agency News
April 11th, 2007
The Parma Public Housing Agency is a federally funded rental assistance program for low-income families in Cuyahoga County. The Agency offers both the Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher program and Public Housing, which is located on Chevrolet Boulevard in Parma. The Agency owns and manages 60 public housing units and administers 742 Section 8 Vouchers. The PPHA works under the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) to ensure all federal regulations are being followed, not only by the Housing Authority, but by the participant families as well. There are certain criteria that families must meet when applying for the program, such as household income qualifying based on the income standards for the county and passing a criminal check run by the office staff. Once on the program, families must follow all rules and responsibilities, such as reporting income changes and reporting changes in family composition due to birth or death. To date the PPHA has closed waiting lists and is expecting to accept applications in 2-3 years.
The mission of the Parma Public Housing Authority is to be the leader in making available excellent, affordable housing for low and moderate-income persons through effective management and the wise steward ship of public funds. The Parma Public Housing Agency will also partner with our residents and others to enhance the quality of life in our communities.
