The City of Parma Accepts Master Card & Visa Credit/Debit Cards For Payment

Attention Business Withholders - ACH Credit Electronic Filing

The Parma Tax Department is pleased to offer a new ACH Credit Electronic Filing Program for Withholding Tax. In an effort to be more efficient and more business friendly we are offering electronic filings for withholding tax.

Benefits to you:

The ACH Credit Program is available 24 hours a day/ 7 days a week and your payments are processed conveniently and accurately via electronic funds transfer.

Requirements:

To file using the ACH Credit Program, please contact your bank to ensure they can process ACH credit transactions.

Enrollment:

To register complete and mail or fax an ACH Credit Authorization Form.

Tax Rate

Effective January 1, 2007, the City of Parma tax rate is 2.5%.

For all employers who have employees working in Parma, you or your payroll service must withhold 2.5% for Parma City Income Tax on all wages issued on or after January 1, 2007.

Tax Credit

Effective January 1, 2007 Parma’s tax credit for those residents working outside of Parma is 100% of 2% but it cannot exceed the employment city tax rate.

For those employers that do a voluntary withholding of residence tax, see Chart A below for rates.

Who Should File

The City of Parma has a 2.5% city income tax with 100% credit of 2% but it cannot exceed the employment city tax rate. Every resident 18 years of age or older and not retired, is required to file a City of Parma annual tax return. If you are not sure if you should file an income tax return or if your income is city taxable please contact the Tax Department.

Extended Tax Hours and Due Date

On Saturdays March 24 and 31, the Tax Department will be open from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. Starting on Tuesday, April 3 and Thursday, April 5, the Tax Department will be open from 8:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. through the tax filing deadline. The Tax Department will prepare City of Parma income tax forms for free any time during office hours. Taxpayers will need to bring the following items with them to the tax office: the pre-printed tax form which was sent out in January and all W-2's, 1099's, any relevant schedules, etc. and proof of payment to any other cities if necessary.

TAX RETURN IS DUE BY APRIL 17, 2012.

* The traditional tax return filing deadline is April 15 of each year, but April 15, 2012 is a Sunday and April 16, 2012 falls on Emancipation Day in the District of Columbia.
