E-Filing For Your City Taxes

The Parma Tax Department now offers online Tax Connect. As of February 4, 2009 you will be able to check and see what payments and/or credit you have on your current or past tax years. On March 2, 2009 you will be able to fill out, file, and if need be pay your taxes on line and also do general inquires. The City of Parma Accepts Master Card & Visa Credit/Debit Cards For Payment

Tax Rate :

Effective January 1, 2007, the City of Parma tax rate is 2.5%.

For all employers who have employees working in Parma, you or your payroll service must withhold 2.5% for Parma city Income Tax on all wages issued on or after January 1, 2007.

Attention Fiscal Year Filers:

Due to the rate change on 1-1-2007, we are using blended rates for all Fiscal Filings Ending in 2007, see Chart A below for year end blended Rates.

Tax Credit :

Effective January 1, 2007 Parma’s tax credit for those residents working outside of Parma is 100% of 2% but it cannot exceed the employment city tax rate.

For those employers that do a voluntary withholding of residence tax, see Chart B below for Rates.

Who Should File:

The City of Parma has a 2.5% city income tax with 100% credit of 2% but it cannot exceed the employment city tax rate. Every resident 18 years of age or older and not retired, is required to file a City of Parma annual tax return. If you are not sure if you should file an income tax return or if your income is city taxable please contact the Tax Department.

Extended Tax Hours: Parma City Hall

On Tuesdays and Thursdays starting March 17, 2009 through April 15, 2009 the Division of Taxation is open from 8:30 am to 6:30 pm. The Tax Department will prepare City of Parma income tax forms for free any time during office hours. Taxpayers will need to bring with them the following items to the tax office, the pre-printed tax form which was sent out in January and all W-2's, 1099's, any relevant schedules, etc. and proof of payment to any other cities if necessary.

Off Site Extended Hours: Parmatown Mall

On Wednesdays, March 11 & 18, 2009 from 5:00pm to 7:00pm and Saturdays March 28, 2009 and April 4, 2009 from 1:00 pm to 3:00pm The Tax Department will prepare City of Parma income tax forms for free at the City of Parma’s Recreation Department located across from the YMCA Express in the PARMATOWN MALL.

TAX RETURN IS DUE BY APRIL 15, 2009.
