Amanda Boyd began her term as Ward 8 councilwoman in January 2024. Previously, she served for five years on the City of Parma's Board of Building Appeals and for six years on the Executive Cuyahoga County Central Committee. She also worked with students in the drama program at Parma Senior High School from 2018 to 2020. She welcomes using her skills, accomplishments and experiences to serve the City of Parma.
Boyd's career includes executive and community leadership, early-childhood education and performing arts. Currently, she serves as an education consultant, facilitating and managing projects for learning communities within youth-serving organizations and networks throughout the United States. Prior to consultancy, she coordinated events and spearheaded projects to facilitate growth and equity in the corporate sector.
Boyd has a bachelor's degree in early-childhood education from The University of Akron. During her tenure as an early-childhood educator, she taught and adapted a music-movement program, as well as developed and facilitated an early-childhood arts curriculum for a new program.
She has experience as a professional stage manager, director and performer throughout Greater Cleveland, which includes Cleveland Public Theatre, Playhouse Square and Ensemble Theatre. She also worked with Keegan Theatre in Washington, D.C., and traveled to Ireland for three tours.
Boyd resides In Parma with her husband, Dave, and their miniature pincher, Crouton. During her personal time, she enjoys macrameing, riding motorcycles, traveling and hiking.
