Councilwoman Kammy Coyle Shuman is a longtime resident of Parma. She moved to Parma in 1971 with her mother, Mary; her father, Hugh; and six older brothers. She also has one sister who was born in Parma. The family lived on Hollywood Drive and was instrumental in starting Parma's hockey program. Throughout her childhood, Shuman enjoyed skating at Forestwood and Greenbrier ice rinks.

In 1988, she graduated from Padua Franciscan High School in Parma and then earned a bachelor's degree in accounting from Baldwin Wallace University in Berea. After college, she worked for 16 years as a travel agent for the family business, Encompass the World Travel.

In 2008, Shuman became a fitness instructor and taught yoga and fitness classes. She was also active at her children's school, St. Columbkille, where she helped with marketing and volunteered at the parish and annual Parent Teacher Union fish fry.

From 2013 to 2019, she was a recruiter at her alma mater, Padua. In 2020, she began working at Oak Tree Wealth Partners in Independence, Ohio, and is currently the operations manager.

She has been married for 20 years to her husband, Tony, a business teacher at Padua. They have two children: Anthony, age 17, and Elizabeth, age 15.
