Car Seat Installation

The Parma Fire Department has been offering car seat checks and installations since 2008 with technicians trained in accordance with the NHTSA regulations. Each year, approximately 1,800 children who are less than 14 years old lose their lives as the result of a motor vehicle crash. Another 280,000 are uninjured. Child safety seats, when properly installed,  save lives. A study released by the National Safe Kids Campaign reports that at least 85 percent of the 17,500 seats inspected were installed incorrectly.

Monthly Event

  • First Saturdays
  • 9 am to 1 pm
  • Location: Fire Station #2 - 3311 Snow Road, Parma, Ohio 44134
  • No appointment necessary

Installations will last about 30 to 45 minutes. You will be instructed on the function of your car seat, proper fit and installation for your vehicle and how to secure your child in the seat properly. The child should accompany you, unless you are pregnant or cannot travel safely with the child. Also, bring the child seat owner's manual and vehicle owner's manual. Remove the seat from the box and plastic wrapping before arriving.

We do not offer walk-ins or appointments as not all firefighters are certified car seat technicians. Also, we cannot guarantee a time slot as our members may be on an emergency call at the time of the appointment.
